Girlfriendology.com, the online community for women based on female friendship, reaches a significant milestone on July 24th as it uploads its 50th podcast - an achievement few podcasts ever reach.

Through interviews with inspiring women and by sharing listeners' friendship stories, Girlfriendology podcasts have not only reached the big 5-0, but have done so with double-digit download growth every month since the first broadcast in September, 2007.

Todd Cochrane, one of the very early podcasters and CEO of RawVoice, congratulated Girlfriendology on reaching this milestone and noted that, "fewer than 20% of shows make it to their 50th podcast."

How big is the podcast audience? Edison Media Research reported that the percentage of Americans who have downloaded and listened to an audio podcast grew from 13% in 2007 to 18% in just one year. 9% of Americans have downloaded and listened to a podcast in the past month, for a total of 23 million listeners.

Girlfriendology interviews inspiring women who share their personal stories on topics of friendship, life, and how girlfriends support each other in reaching their dreams. Podcast guests have run the girlfriend gamut from Carol Duvall - HGTV/DIY Network show host, to Debbie Macomber - author with 100 million books in print, from Ellen Shuman - emotional eating expert, to Susan Wilson Solovic - entrepreneurial media pro and founder of SBTV.com.

Debba Haupert, founder of Girlfriendology, started the podcasts in September 2007 when author Kris Radish agreed to an interview. Haupert said, "I couldn't just 'paraphrase' Kris Radish. She's a best-selling author and her passion for what she does really comes out in her voice. After that, we started weekly podcast interviews with inspiring women from a variety of perspectives. Haupert also broadcasts inspirational stories submitted by women responding to the monthly Girlfriendology contest. Podcast frequency was recently increased to two per week due to the constant growth of the listening audience and the number of inspiring women to interview. New podcasts are released every Sunday and Thursday evenings at www.girlfriendology.com.
